Gloria Mercer  •  Director/Producer

Gloria Mercer is a filmmaker  from Vancouver who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University with a major in film and a minor in gender, sexuality, and women’s studies. Her award-winning short films have screened at international festivals worldwide. She was selected by Women in the Director’s Chair Vancouver to be part of their 2021 cohort of directors.

Her latest short film, Hekademia, was awarded support from the National Film Board of Canada and the Canada Council for the Arts and won Best Sci-Fi at the Oscar-Qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival.

Gloria seeks to expand upon representations of women by creating stories that interrogate gender and foreground complicated female characters. Her work examines themes of loneliness, self-discovery, and relationships between women. She is passionate about featuring more women in front of and behind the camera, and fostering new talent in the BC film industry.

Aidan West  •  Writer/Producer

Aidan West is a writer and filmmaker. He is an alumnus of the SFU undergraduate film program. He is currently enrolled at the MFA screenwriting program at UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film, and Television.

Recently he was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation screenwriting fellowship. His screenplays have placed in the second round at the Austin Film Festival, and have won awards through the California Film Awards, Canada International Film Festival, and placed as a quarter-finalist at the Fresh Voices Screenplay competition.

His film, Ellen Infinity, produced through SFU’s film program, screened at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and other festivals across North America. He is a frequent producing partner and collaborator of Gloria Mercer, and a co-founder of See Horse Films.
